Founder's Day is a holiday in Orchard Way, that was originally designed to teach the town's youth about the town's history. In more recent times it has become much more about the fair, the parade, and the fireworks then about history though. The day's main events take place in and around Whitmore Park. Locals set up colorful booths for games, face painting, and food. There are contests through out the day involving best pie, biggest vegetable, and several eating contests. Winners of these contests get bragging rights for a year plus a fifty dollar gift card good for any of the local downtown businesses. It is a day of fun and excitement for most of the town and ends in an evening parade and a fireworks show.
